Short answers to the questions we get most. Anything else: write to us and a person replies.

Signing in to the app

Subscribed on the web? The plan page shows a six-digit app code. Install the app, open it, type the code once. It works for 24 hours and is in your email too.

Code expired, or on a new phone? Open the app, choose Use your email, and we send a six-digit code to the email you used. No password, ever.

Cancelling

Subscribed on the web: open your plan page and choose Manage subscription. That opens the billing portal, where you can cancel or change your plan. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the period ends.

Subscribed through the App Store: iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Subscribed through Google Play: Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions.

Not sure where you subscribed? The Subscription section in the app's Settings says which one it is.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings, Delete account and data. This removes your plan, answers, check-ins and devices. Cancel an active subscription first, otherwise it keeps renewing after your data is gone.

Billing records held by the payment provider may be retained where legally required.

A bad night

If your morning check-in says you slept badly, Today keeps the wake time and does not move tonight's times earlier. Going to bed early after a rough night usually means lying awake.

If you drink coffee, a coffee nap appears in your afternoon nap window: a coffee, then a 25-minute nap right away, before your last coffee of the day.

Runway

The last hour before bed, split into three twenty-minute segments: things you have to do, wash up, land the plane. One reminder at the start; the app times the rest.

Runway opens from the wind-down reminder or from Today in the evening.

Last drink

Settings, Adjust my plan, turn on I drink some evenings. Your timetable gains a last-drink time three hours before your bed window, with the same rule every time: water between drinks, nothing after.

Travel mode

Settings, Travelling. Pick the destination time zone and your departure date. Your wake time moves 60 minutes a day toward the destination, with a daylight step each morning. End travel mode when you are settled and the plan continues in the new zone.

Night is always free

The Night screen and its audio sessions work with or without a subscription, and offline. Open the app between 10 PM and 6 AM and Night is one tap away.

Before you start: stay lying down, roll onto your back for 25 seconds before deciding you need the bathroom, and do not check the clock. If you cannot use sound, count back from 300 by threes. Still awake after a session? Get up to a dim reading spot and come back when your eyes get heavy.

About When

When is a timing plan app for wake time, caffeine and wind-down, made by an independent team; it is not a medical device. It runs on the web at whentiming.com and as an app for iPhone and Android, and the plan follows you between the two with a six-digit code. The rules behind every time it suggests are published on the home page.
